He married Maude Dial and is the father of six children: Max Fielding, Lavina Fielding Anderson of Salt Lake City, Utah; Karen Fielding Barnum of Warden, Wash.; Lynn Fielding of Kennewick, Wash.; Arlene Fielding McCauley of Eagle, Idaho and Susan Fielding Drury of Sandy, Utah. He and Maude moved from Moore, Idaho to Warden in 1955 and from there moved to Othello in 1972. He is survived by his six children and their spouses, 63 grandchildren and 102 great-grandchildren.
He served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Arkansas from 1938 to 1940, served as Bishop in Moore, Idaho and Warden, and was a temple worker in Seattle and Kennewick for a combined 25 years.
He and Maude farmed east of Othello since 1962, growing kids, sugar beets and potatoes. He helped innumerable people, especially those "down on their luck." He supported the Reading Foundation that espoused readying children for kindergarten. All who knew him were blessed by his cheerful spirit.
Funeral services will be held at the Warden LDS Church on Sept. 3, 2016. Viewings will be held Sept 2, 2016 at Stevens Funeral Home in Othello and Sept. 3, 2016 at the Warden LDS Church. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Warden.
