Civil War Veteran Succumbs After Illness of Several Months.

Benjamin F. Chase, a civil war veteran and resident of this city for more than thirty years, died at his home, in the Norfolk apartment house, today after an illness of several months. Arrangements for the funeral have not yet been completed, but it probably will be held Friday afternoon, with interment at Glenwood cemetery.

Mr. Chase was sixty-eight years old and was born at Tonawanda, N. Y. Besides being a member of the Grand Army of the Republic, he was a member of King David Lodge, No. 28, F. A. A. M. and of the Union Veterans' Legion. He was employed in the pension office.

Mr. Chase's wife died about a year ago. Four children - William Chase, Frank N. Chase, Mrs. Mabel Jett and Mrs. Queenie Anderson - survive.
