Elnora Murphy, 95, of Waterloo died at Covenant Medical Center on Saturday, February 7, 2015. She was born November 20, 1919 in Lime Springs, Iowa the daughter of Martin and Lena Johnson Medhaug.

She graduated from Lime Springs High School 1937.

Elnora married Frank Long October 3, 1941 in Harmony, Minnesota; he died March 21, 1973. She married Robert H. Murphy December 15, 1979 in Waterloo; he died February 12, 2006. She cooked and tended bar in area restaurants and managed Brookside Apartments with her husband from 1980 1983.

Elnora was past president of the VFW Women's Auxiliary and over 20 years with the Military Order of the Cootie. She attended First Baptist Church of Waterloo. Elnora volunteered with the VFW and Mental health Hospital in Independence, as well as the VA Medical Center in Iowa City and the Marshalltown Veterans Home.

Survivors include two daughters: Jeanette Petersen of Denver and Ellen (Todd) Huston of Waterloo; three sons: Bill Long, Sam Long, and Marty (Tracey) Long all of Waterloo; a step-son Michael (Cheryl) Murphy of Las Vegas; 12 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, along with step grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers: Gene Medhaug and Bert Medhaugh both of Waterloo.

Elnora is preceded in death by three brothers: Sanford, Howard, and Edwin Medhaug; three sisters: Elsie Hartung, Anna Inman and Lucille Mintey
