VETERAN OF WORLD WAR II~OBITUARY OF LLOYD POE

Lloyd POE, 95, of Fargo, died Friday, February 06, 2015 in the Okeene Memorial Hospital. Lloyd was born on May 16, 1919 in Earlsboro, Oklahoma to Ed and Christina Elizabeth (Gibson) POE.

Lloyd and his family moved to a farm South of Gage when he was a young boy. He attended the Pleasant View School. The family moved North of Gage, where he completed his schooling at rural school close to his family home. At a young age Lloyd began working on a thrashing crew during wheat harvest. As a young man he worked on several area farms eventually finding work as a mechanic.

Lloyd enlisted on August 19, 1941 in the United States Army serving overseas during World War II. Lloyd was awarded various military accommodations, including two Bronze Stars. He was Honorably Discharged on October 26, 1945. Upon returning home he worked for Williams Chevrolet.

Lloyd was united in marriage to Betty STEWART on February 03, 1947 in Woodward. They were blessed with four children. After his fathers death Lloyd and his family moved to the farm North of Fargo. He then began working for Western State Psychiatric Hospital in Ft. Supply. Lloyd was united in marriage to Corinne H. RICE on October 23, 1974 in Woodward. They made their home on the farm near Fargo. After 26 years of employment he retired from Western State as Maintenance Supervisor. Throughout his life Lloyd ran cattle on his family farm.

Lloyd is survived by his four children; nine grandchildren; other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Corinne, three brothers, Fred, his twin Floyd, and Sammie, five sisters, Elsie ROBERTS, Mary POE, Amy POE, Lela BRANSON, Esther HALL, step-son, Kenneth NORMAN.

Graveside Funeral Services and Interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at the Fargo Cemetery with Reverend Mark Lilly officiating.
