ASHWELL, Carey E. — 38, of Fayetteville, died Sunday night at his home after a heart attack. Born at Huddleston, Va. he was a member of Lafayette Lodge No. 57, AF&AM at Fayetteville. He had been a rural mall carrier for 13 years.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nilah Day Ashwell; two daughters, Glora Ann and Lana Marilyn, both at home; his mother, Mrs. Goldie Ashwell of Cunard; his father, Otey L. Ashwell of Oak Hill; seven brothers, Howard and Otey, both of Roanoke, Va., Lester of Montgomery, Herbert of Alta Vista, Va., Burl of Bedford, Va., and Meredith and Orville, both with the Army; and two sisters, Mrs. James Mabe of Roanoke, Va., and Mrs. Cecil Nickols of Alta Vista, Va.
Service will be at 2 p. m. tomorrow in Gatewood Baptist Church with Rev. John Kyle officiating. Burial will be in Highlawn Memorial Park at Oak Hill with Dodd-Payne mortuary of Fayetteville directing. The body will be taken from the mortuary to the church one hour before the service.
