Harold Rutten, age 74, of rural Osakis, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, June 15, 1990 at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Harold Christ Rutten was born on April 16, 1916 in rural Osakis to Frank and Frances (Dohman) Rutten. On June 22, 1938 Harold was united in marriage to Clara Stoetzel at the St. Nicholas Church in Belle River, Minnesota. The couple began farming northwest of Osakis and Harold would spend most of his life farming. He also enjoyed raising potatoes in his garden and working out in his shop. Harold was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Osakis and belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He had also served on the District 22 school board. He was a loving father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Harold is survived by his wife, Clara of Osakis; six children: Doug and Joan Rutten of Osakis; Dave and Eileen Rutten of Kalamazoo, Michigan; RoseMary and Mark Hedner of Starbuck; Ray and Arlene Rutten of Osakis; Diane and Russ Oberg of Rockford; MaryKay and Rich Hawkins of Osakis; 22 grandchildren; one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, two granddaughters, Sarah Rutten and Angeline Hawkins; and one sister, Evelyn Rutten.
Funeral service was held on Monday, June 18, 1990 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osakis with Father Victor Kinzer officiating. Interment was at the Calvary Cemetery in Osakis. Honorary pallbearers were Mike and Greg Rutten, Shawn Oberg, Ryan Rutten and Rod Hedner. Active pallbearers were Leo Stoetzel, Virgil Decker, Dennis Feda, Mark Roers, Ken Rutten and Duane Steidl. Arrangements were handled by the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home, Osakis, Minnesota.
