William Edison "Bill" Bammel Jr., age 71, passed away peacefully in his home in Houston, TX on Sunday Feb 1, 2015. A native Houstonian, Bill was the second child and only son of his father, W.E. Bammel Sr. and mother, Annie Martha Fischer. A Boy Scout, Bill graduated Lamar HS '61 and Texas A&M College '65, where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets and "First Pledge" of Alpha Phi Omega, Xi Delta Chapter. He met his wife, Janice, at a dance in Garner State Park, and they married June 11, 1966. Twelve years later, they would settle down in Spring Branch where he worked 30 years with Putterman Scharck and Associates selling industrial lighting. Bill was active in many social circles and was a member of the board for his church, First Evangelical Lutheran (FELC), and Magnolia Cemetery.
Bill is survived by his wife, Janice Aileen Bammel; her mom, Luene Jamison; Bill's sister, Carol Ann Jackson; Bill's brother-in-law Byron; Byron's daughters, Melanie, Jennifer, and Laura; Carol's children, D'Anne and Leland; and many extended family and great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:30pm to 8pm Friday, February 6, 2015 at Earthman Funeral Home, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 10am at Earthman Funeral Home with Rev. McClanahan officiating. Private burial services will be held afterwards at Magnolia Cemetery, Houston, Texas. The family requests that in lieu of flowers a contribution be made to the charity of your choice or FELC of Houston, www.felchouston.org
