Robert Pringle Mayrant married Frances A.M.H. Guignard, a first cousin, in 1831. He was born October 23, 1808. In 1828 he was appointed midshipman in the United States Navy by the president, John Quincy Adams. He served on the U.S.S. Guierrier and was a shipmate and personal friend of Mr. Farragut, who afterwards became an admiral. He resigned his commission in 1832.

Robert and Frances lost two sons in the Civil War, William Richardson Mayrant, born 1840, and John Gabriel Mayrant, b 1843.
