James Ashley Griffin, 38, of San Francisco, CA. passed away at 8:30 pm on Monday, February 2, 2015, due to an accidental fall. He was born in Memphis, TN. to James Arthur Griffin and Mary Kathryn (Collins) Griffin.

Like his father, James (known as Jamey) was a talented guitarist and singer-songwriter. His father, 'Jimmy', was an Academy Award winning professional musician best known for his work with the 1970s rock band, Bread. Jamey naturally developed a passion for music at an early age, and continued in his father's footsteps writing beautiful original songs throughout his life. He loved to perform his music more than anything and was planning to record an album.

Jamey was a deeply spiritual man and held a strong belief in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He spent considerable time reading the bible and reflecting on God's word. He was humble and compassionate, and didn't hesitate to share the good news of Christianity with others whenever he was given an opportunity. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Jamey is preceded in Homecoming by his father, James Arthur Griffin; his Uncle Ted Michael Fiorita; his grandparents, Charles Richard Collins and Billie Ruth McElroy Collins; and grandmother, Neva Griffin Thom.

He is survived by his mother, Kathy Shepherd of Denham Springs, LA.; sisters Katy Griffin and Beky Shepherd, niece Lilli Griffin and nephew Max Johnston- all of Denham Springs, LA.; his Aunt Rose Ann Fiorita, of Paducah, KY., and cousin Angela Fiorita and Teddy Fiorita-Day, of Los Angeles, CA.- who were very close to him throughout his life.

Also surviving are Sara McGinnis Griffin, of Lake City, AR.; his daughter Laura Love Griffin Reed, son-in-law Luke Reed, and grandson Levi Reed – all of Stanton, TN.; his son, James Ashley Griffin, Jr. (Gryffyn), of San Francisco, CA.; and his Aunt Carol Jones, and cousins Scott Jones, Valerie Jones, Michael Ivy and Debbie Ivy- all of Memphis, TN. And in addition to his immediate family, his stepfather William J. Shepherd of Memphis, TN.; and stepfather Michael Lane of Baton Rouge, LA.; stepsister Alexis Griffin Roman and stepbrother Jacob Griffin, of Memphis, TN.; and many other relatives in Los Angeles, CA., Baton Rouge, LA., and Paducah, KY.; as well as countless friends and fans of Jamey and his music.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 17 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
Memorial contributions honoring Jamey can be sent to Paducah Lifeline Ministries, and Ladies Living Free, P.O. Box 7652, Paducah, KY. 42002.
