Born in Atlantic City, N.J. on Sept. 29, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Florence R. and Edward L. Applegate.
Doris lived in Millington, N.J., where she met her late husband, professor William B. Boucher VMD. Married in 1940, she spent 53 years with her husband in Media, and with the University of Pennsylvania at New Bolton Center, where they reared four children: Joanne (deceased), Sheryl, Holly and William. Doris was active at the University, welcomed and entertained with meals and music, hundreds of students, faculty, friends and family over those years. Doris married a childhood friend, Arthur Ritter, following the death of Dr. Boucher, and lived in Florida until he passed, then moved to California to be near some of her family. Among Doris’ amazing talents included pen and ink sketching, painting and gardening. She loved music, singing and dancing, and never stopped practicing until shortly before her death. She corresponded with friends all over the country and the world, and will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
Doris is also survived by six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucille; sons-in-law, David Griffith, Luis Colon VMD; and daughter-in-law Linda Boucher.
