Imogene (Gene) Weaver, 90, died Wednesday, February 4, 2015, in Abilene.

The daughter of Anna Elizabeth (Jackson) and William Lee Douthit, Gene was born on March 19, 1924, in San Angelo, Texas. She graduated from Mertzon High School in 1941 and attended business college for two years. She married Eugene Weaver on July 29, 1949, in San Angelo.

Gene was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Abilene, having served as the pastor’s secretary for 27 years before retiring April 1, 1989.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and two brothers, William Lee Douthit and Jack Douthit.

Gene is survived by her daughters, Jan Hegg and husband Rob, and Dena Prosen; one sister, Frances Harris; two grandchildren, Matthew Edward Prosen and wife Felisa, and Sarah Elizabeth Prosen and fiancé Mo Maatouk; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 7, in the First Baptist Church Sanctuary with Dr. Phil Christopher and Rev. Palmer McCown officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Friday, February 6, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene.
