according to Jim Cox of Cox Ranch, Jesse Brazel was the father of Wayne Brazel, who allegedly shot Sheriff Pat Garrett. Sarah was the wife of Capt. W. W. Brazel.

Historical figure. Jesse Wayne Brazel was known as "the man who killed the man who killed Billy the Kid." He allegedly shot Pat Garrett, the former sheriff of Lincoln County, New Mexico, who shot and killed the infamous outlaw, Billy the Kid, on July 14, 1881, at Fort Sumner, NM. Brazel allegedly shot Garrett in the back, but was acquitted in a one day trial on grounds of self defense. After his moment of notoriety, he disappeared from history.
