Mrs. Betty Jenkins Beaver, beloved wife of the late Mack Beaver, Sr., passed away on Friday, March 28 2014 at the Gordon Hospice House. She had been living at the Autumn Care Nursing Facility from years of declining health due to Alzheimers Disease. She was a wonderful Christian lady and dearly loved by so many family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Beaver Houston and husband, Paul her son, Mack Beaver, Jr. and Lena. Also surviving are her 3 grandchildren, Rebecca Barnette and husband, Jeffrey, Lucas Beaver and J. Alex Houston. Two great grandchildren, Kayden Elizabeth and Ava Lee Barnette also survive. Their first born son, Jeffrey Leon Beaver, died at birth.

Mack and Betty were married on November 24, 1949, and were married for 56 wonderful years prior to Mack's death from cancer on February 24, 2006. Betty was the youngest daughter of the late Rufus Carter and Johnsie Matilda Jenkins of the New Sterling Community. She was the 11th child of the 12 children raised on a farm and continued to live her life on a farm at the old homeplace on Beaver Farm Rd. She loved to cook and was a gracious host and she also loved to entertain and enjoyed travel, sewing and quilting and all the things that came with farm life. She was born August 11, 1926. Brothers preceding her in death were Ferrell Jenkins, Wayne and Hal Jenkins and sisters preceding her in death were Alma Cook, Irene Massey, Doris Helen Johnson, Virginia Amon and Rachel Gray. She is survived by a brother, Joe Jenkins and a sister, Bernice McKnown. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

While raising her family she maintained the many responsibilities of dairy farming life. She had also cared for her mother-in-law, Cleo Carter Beaver, who lived 110 years, being buried on her 110th brithday. Betty was a member of Abilene Church Of Christ and remained actively involved as long as health permitted. They raised their children to a stong work ethic, honesty and a strong faith in our Lord & Savior.
