Son of Newton Albert Beaver & Cleopatra Carter. Husband of Elizabeth Elaine Jenkins(ma. Nov 24, 1949).

Leon Mack Beaver passed away at his home on Friday evening, February 24, 2006, surrounded by his dearest loved ones.

He was a loving husband, father, and friend. The family was very thankful they could honor his wishes as he so loved his farm home. Mack was the son of the late Newton Albert Beaver and Cleo Carter Beaver. He was the youngest son of eight children.

Mack is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years: Betty Jenkins Beaver of Discovery Place; his daughter: Deborah Beaver Houston and her husband, Paul Duane Houston; his son: Leon Mack Beaver, Jr. and his friend, Lena Koerner; grandchildren: Rebecca Jeanne and Lucas Michael Beaver and a step-grandson: J. Alex Houston; a special nephew: Philip Pearson of Rock Hill, SC; a wonderful caregiver and friend: Karen Hill; family friend: Sarah Bost; a sister: Lucille Beaver Lanier of Murfreeboro, TN; and a brother: James Carter Beaver of Statesville, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by brothers: Hugh, Nay, and Bill Beaver; and sisters: Nova Beaver Fowler and Patty Jean Beaver Pearson.

Mack was a life-long dairy farmer. He loved farming and continued his family tradition which began in the late 1800?s. His son, Mack Beaver, Jr. and grandson: Lucas Michael will continue in farming. The Beaver Farm is listed as one of the century old farms in North Carolina.

He was a member of the Farm Bureau Board of Directors and a volunteer fireman at Cool Springs Fire Department for 26 years. He was a lifetime member of Abilene Church of Christ. Mack so loved his family and friends, hunting, gospel music, dancing to country and bluegrass and attending fiddler conventions. He loved trips out west to Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and Iowa.

A very special thank you goes to Dr. Sam Stout and Dr. Michael Serwint and also to the nurses and workers at Iredell Memorial Hospital and Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 PM Monday at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Tuesday at Abilene Church of Christ on Bell Farm Road. The officiating minister and family friend will be Mr. Wallace Beasley of Rock Hill, SC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Terry Waller, Henry Hall, Philip Pearson, Jeff Rumple, Mike Cook, and Jim Beaver. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Cool Springs Fire Department.
