Donald L. Lane, 86, of Salina, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007. He was born Oct. 22, 1920, in Tescott, to Ernest R. and Margaret "Maggie" Lane.
Mr. Lane was a sales manager for Schwan's Global Foods for 15 years in Garden City and was a sales representative for OSHE Meats for 25 years, retiring in 1986. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 62, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 11, 32nd Degree Salina Blue Lodge 60, Isis Shrine and Scottish Rite. He was a private first class in the U.S. Army, 219th Field Artillery Battalion from 1940 to 1945 and an acting platoon sergeant, serving in Normandy, Ardennes, Northern France, Central Europe and the Rhineland.

On Oct. 2, 1977, he married Hazel Brannon in Oklahoma City. She survives. Other survivors include four daughters, Sheila A. Livingston of Lake Ozark, Mo., Janet K. Swinney of Weatherford, Okla., Brenda J. Catozzi of Valrico, Fla., and Sharon D. Buettner of Moore, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Dixie, in 1975; a son, Robert "Bobby"; two brothers, Smoke and Earl; and a sister, Ura Mae Peters.
