Frank Kraus, 97, passed away on December 28, 2017, at his residence in Tell City, Ind. He was born in St. Mark's, Ind., on October 5, 1920, to the late William and Eleanor (Buttermann) Kraus.

A 1939 graduate of Tell City High School, Frank entered the military in 1942. As a WWII veteran and a member of the "greatest generation," he spent 39 months in the Army at various locations in the US, New Guinea and the Philippines. He was a member of VFW Post 2939.

Frank was married on October 25, 1952, to Lois Pate. Together, he and Lois raised three children, Diane, Debbie, and Bill. Frank worked as an electrician at General Electric for 32 years, retiring in 1985. He was a devout Catholic and member of St. Paul Catholic Church. He enjoyed woodworking and was an accomplished "Fix-It" man for his family, friends, and neighbors.

Frank was a man of great integrity and deeply valued his relationships with family, friends and co-workers. He had a strong work ethic and the ability to nearly always see things in a positive light. He loved to tell a good story and always had time for visitors. Frank adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and in his final years, he loved nothing more than to hear about the details of their daily lives and marvel at their accomplishments.

Surviving are his wife, Lois; children, Preceding him in death are siblings, Mary Jane Kraus (in infancy), Marcella (Kraus) Schaefer, Mary Alice (Kraus) Thelander, and Louis Kraus. He is survived by one sibling, Catherine (Kraus) Bartholomew of Louisville, Ky.
