ECKENRODE – Agnes E., 85, New Castle, formerly of Portage, passed away Dec. 24, 2012, at Jameson Hospital, New Castle. Born Nov. 26, 1927, in Benscreek, daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Bertak) Tutsock.
Preceded in death by parents; husband, Albert “Pete” Eckenrode, whom she married on Aug. 11, 1952; and siblings, John, Andrew, Michael, Robert and Thomas Tutsock and Mary Novak.
Survived by son, James Eckenrode, Stow, Ohio. Sister of James Tutsock (Darlene), St. Benedict; Irene Higbee, Florida; Dorothy Irvin (James), Portage; Tillie Pallone, Portage; Anne Cochran, Florida; and Evy Wanamaker, Virginia. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Agnes was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church of New Castle and also a member of Christian Mothers. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker and a former longtime Avon representative. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., Portage. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Portage, Father Walter Moll, celebrant. Committal, St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Cresson.
