When Sallie Hargrove died (at age 22), her sister Emily and their mother Mrs. Murray were still living; but Emily Murray died shortly thereafter. Mr. Murray was from North Carolina.
Sallie's children were largely raised by a childless couple in Washington County, Mr. & Mrs. J. W. Chandler.
Alex Hargrove, the children's father, remarried in December of 1859. This was a cousin of his deceased wife, Lucretta [Lucretia?] W. Murray; however, she died after less than a year.
Late in 1860, Hargrove married a third time, to Martha Beatrice Greenwood. Then, when Texas joined other Southern states in seceding from the Union, he joined the Texas Confederate army.
NOTE ADDED JAN. 2017: BURIAL LOCATION PRESUMED, AS OTHER 19TH-CENTURY HARGROVE FAMILY GRAVES ARE HERE.
