Glenda Ann Kiger Simms of Port Acres, Texas, died peacefully at her home on Thursday, January 29th, 2015 at the age of 76.

Glenda was born on October 2nd, 1938 to Ronald Earl and Mary Cude Kiger in Gatesville, Texas.

She moved to Port Arthur when she was 3 and then to Groves at age 12. She was a proud graduate of PNG High School, class of 1957, where she was a member of the Indianette Drill Team. She married Billy Simms on September 27th, 1958 and moved to Port Acres in 1961.

Glenda was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Billy, and by her parents.

She is survived by her two daughters, Kathy Walters and her husband Wade and Lily Fanning and her husband Bob; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and her brother Ronald “Pee Wee” Kiger.

Glenda was a faithful member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Port Acres and served as the chairperson of the Parish Pastor Relations committee for many years. She was an active member of the PTA and spent many hours working as a volunteer at her daughters’ schools. She was awarded the National PTA Lifetime Membership.
