Dies At Bountiful
Mrs. Olevia Sophia Johnson Hatch, 80, life-long resident of Bountiful and Woods Cross, died Tuesday at 2:30 p. m. from the effects of a cerebral hemorrhage suffered last March, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Orin B. Thurgood of 85 East Center street, Bountiful. She had resided there for the past year.
Mrs. Hatch was born May 14, 1862 at Copenhagen, Denmark, a daughter of John and Louisa Johnson, who had previously moved there from Sweden. She was married to John Arthur Hatch, former Woods Cross postmaster on December 5, 1888 in the Logan temple. Mr. Hatch died Sept. 1926.
Migrating to America when only two years of age, Mrs. Hatch crossed the plains in a wagon train company, pulled by oxen, and settled in Woods Cross, where with the exception of the past year, she had resided.
Always active in affairs of the L D S church and the community, she was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and she had held offices of trust and responsibility in various organizations the greater part of her life.
Mother of eight, the following sons and daughters survive: Dr J. A. Hatch of Orange, Cal.; A. F. Hatch of Tacoma, Wash.; and Mark E. Hatch of Oakland, Cal.; Mrs. Josephine Day of Ogden and Mrs. Bertha Thurgood of Bountiful; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild and one sister, Mrs. E. H. Brown of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Funeral services will be announced by the Union Mortuary at Bountiful, pending word from members of the family residing on the west coast.
