George was born on Feb 27, 1926 in Florence, South Carolina to the late Benjamin Baily Bolen and Eunice Dewitt. He's a military veteran starting his career during WWII with the U.S. Navy aboard ship in the Pacific and ending with retirement in Florida from the U.S. Air Force. He was a 1975 graduate of Gulf Coast Community College. He moved to Texas early in 2014 to live with his son's family.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtis Allene "Jo" Grimes and 3 brothers; Talmadge Walton, Benjiman Leo and Baily Broughton "BB".
He was an avid reader and enjoyed being outdoors; taking long walks and tending to his yard. His last months were spent affectionately adoring his great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Paul Matthew and wife Kerry in Texas and daughter, Susan Lowry and husband Christopher in Massachusetts and 6 grandchildren (Stacy, Stephanie, Jennifer, Alex, Sarah, Katie) and 4 great-grandchildren (Kylie, William, Benton, Annabel).
Internment will be at the Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida at a future date.
