N. LeRoy Christensen, 63, died Thursday at his home following an illness of nearly a year.
A native of Mt. Pleasant, he was born Aug. 10, 1887 a son of Niels and Melvina Tidwall Christensen. He received his early education in Mt. Pleasant schools and attended Brigham Young University two years. He married Zolema Allred June 3, 1908 in the Manti temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They made their home in Mt. Pleasant.
Mr. Christensen was a farmer in Mt. Pleasant most of his life, moving to Provo in 1943 to work as a guard during construction of the Geneva steel plant. He continued in the same position after the plant began steel production until 1945 when he accepted employment at the Utah State hospital.
In Mt. Pleasant, Mr. Christensen held many civic and church positions. He was marshal and collector for the utilities department for 10 years and watermaster 20 years. He served as president of the seventy's quorum, one of the several church positions he held.
Survivors include his widow. Provo; two sons and a daughter, Vernon L. Christensen, Provo; R. W. Christensen and Mrs. Melvin (Betty Rae) Owens, both of Salt Lake City; five grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. James Fillis, Mt. Pleasant.
