The Bedford Daily-Times Mail (September 19, 1964) reported "Mrs. Ennis Connell, widow of Fred Connell, died at 7:15 this morning at Scottsburg. She was 80. Mrs. Connell was born January 24, 1884, in Orange County, to George Scarlett and Alice Simmons. She had been ill for several years. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Marguerite Jones and Mrs. Gertrude Tedrow, both of Shoals, and Gladys Shartiger of Scottsburg, 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. The body will lie in state at the Queens Funeral Home in Shoals."
