Shirley R. (Haston) Curtice-Schofield, 89, of New Bedford passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014, at home after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Paul L. Curtice and the late Paul P. Schofield.

Born in Newport, RI, the daughter of the late Lloyd L. and Ethelind T. (Randolph) Haston, she moved from Westerly, RI to Boston and then to Dartmouth in 1952. She has lived in New Bedford for the past several years at the Regency Towers.

Shirley was office supervisor at the Berkshire Hathaway Mill for 35 years until its closing. She then was the secretary at the Donaghy-Hathaway Funeral Home for 25 years until her retirement two years ago.

She is survived by two step sons, William Schofield of Whitesville, KY and Paul D. Schofield of Springfield, VT; a step daughter, Paula (Schofield) Hardie of Marietta, GA; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a sister in law, Betty Williams of Groton, CT; her dear cat, Dusty and dear friends, Kay Westgate and her daughters, Lisa and Lora. Shirley was the step mother of the late Peter Schofield and Reginald Curtice and step sister of the late George N. Williams.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 20, 2014, from 10-11am, in the Donaghy Funeral Home, 465 County Street, New Bedford, followed by a Graveside service in River Bend Cemetery in Westerly, RI
