ELLEN ADAMS LINCECUM, born December 7, 1919 to John and Rachel Adams, passed away January 26, 2015 at the age of 95. Growing up in Alvin, Texas, she was known as an exceptional athlete, excelling in both softball and basketball. She studied nursing at John Sealy Hospital before moving to West Columbia to marry George Lincecum. They had 2 children, Clifton and Geargia Pearl. During her long career, Ellen worked with Dr. W. M. Greenwood, delivering babies, providing a steady hand for immunizations and making frequent home visits. Ellen loved her church, sewing, baking, gardening and fishing. She gave generously of her time and talent to the First Baptist Church, The Garden Club and the Historical Society and many other civic groups. She frequently donated her famous cheese straws, scrubby pads and cookies for auctions.

Funeral services will be held 10:00am, Thursday, January 29, 2015 at First Baptist Church in West Columbia with Pastor Ryan Lintelman officiating. Burial will follow at Columbia Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Baker Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be John Alebis, Michael Alebis, John Clifton Alebis, Tommy Alebis, Johnny Williams and Buddy Adams.

Ellen is preceded in death by her husband, George Lincecum, grandson, George Clifton Lincecum, parents, John and Rachel Adams, 3 sisters, and 4 brothers.

She is survived by her son, Clifton (Charlene) and daughter, Georgia Pearl Lincecum Alebis (John); 5 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, her sister, Selina Williams and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, CEMS, or the Senior Citizens Center.
