Kent Roy Barnard
JOHNSON CITY β Kent Roy Barnard, 88, of Johnson City, passed away at NHC Healthcare on Friday, March 18, 2011. He went to be with his beloved wife of sixty-two years, Kathryn Vogel Barnard, who passed away in April, 2009. Born in Electra, Texas, he was the son of the late Roy G. and Willie Mae Lawrence Barnard.
Mr. Barnard grew up in Amarillo, Texas where he met his beloved Kathryn in high school. They were residents of Texas City, Texas for over forty years before moving to the Johnson City area. They were also longtime members of First United Methodist Church, Texas City. Mr. Barnard received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas A&M University. He retired from Amoco Chemicals where he was a chemical engineer and technical director for several years.
Mr. Barnard is survived by his two daughters: Linda B. Gallagher and husband Michael of Johnson City, Janie B Silveria, of Seaside, California; son: William L Barnard, of Jonesborough; sister: Mary Vroom and husband Laurie; brother: Jim Barnard and wife Tomi; grandchildren: Lisa Gallagher Elrod and husband Jason, of Golden, Colorado, Erin Gallagher, of Johnson City, Stephanie and Brooke Silveria, both of Seaside, California; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Barnard will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimerβs Association 225 N. Michigan Ave. Floor 17 Chicago, IL 60601 or to the charity of your choice.
