ST. ANTHONY - Irene Leonard Siefkas, 83, a longtime resident of Fremont County, Idaho, died August 7, 2001, in a Pocatello care facility following a lingering illness.
She was born April 19, 1918, at Kilgore, Idaho, to Simp V. Leonard and Mary Alvina Huntsman Leonard. She grew up on the family homestead in the Kilgore area and attended school in Kilgore.
On October 19, 1936, she married Harold Crain at St. Anthony. He died November 28, 1943. She married Elza Hughes on November 27, 1944, and they were later divorced. She married James F. Vistercil on October 21, 1947, and they were later divorced. She married Robert Sweeney on August 28, 1961, and he died in 1962. She later married Jim Siefkas.
She worked at the St. Anthony Juvenile Correctional Center as a Foster Grandmother for many years. She enjoyed doing crafts.
Survivors include her five sons, Harry S. (Carol) Crain of Pocatello, Terry D. (Sandra) Crain of Wilford, Idaho, Rex E. (Virgie) Hughes of Pocatello, Kenneth (Georgia) Vistercil of Teton City, Idaho, and Kevin R. (Sabrina) Sweeney of Pocatello; one brother, Elgie (Mary) Leonard of Parker, Idaho; 18 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Eva May; one son, Dwayne; two sisters, Telva and Sylvia; and three brothers, Calvin, Rodney and Levoir.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Bidwell Funeral Home in St. Anthony. Burial will be in the Teton-Newdale Cemetery next to her first husband.
