He was born October 6, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah to L'Roy Bentley and Josephine Hinckley.
He attended East High School, where he met his high school sweetheart, LaRue Bardsley.
After serving his country in WWII, they were married on May 15, 1946 and spent sixty-nine wonderful years of marriage together.
Bud was the third of five sons (Richard, Boyd, Bud, Robert, and Marvin). He spoke fondly of cherished memories with all of them.
Bud loved the mountains, camping, fishing, and boating. He passed that on to his children.
He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and watching the Utah Jazz and his running Utes.
Born into a generation that valued thrift, hard work, and sacrifice, he was true to those values.
Bud retired from the U.S. Postal Service after thirty-eight years of service.
He loved his family dearly. He was sweet with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, LaRue Bentley; children, David (Pat) Bentley, Kathy (Ken) Broadhead, Carolyn (Peter) McKnight, and Dean (Diane) Bentley; brother, Robert (Vivien) Bentley; twenty-one grandchildren; and thirty-eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 26, 2015 at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive (1495 East). A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the services from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m.
Interment will follow.
