MRS, BERTHA HERBIG PASSES AWAY SATURDAY Widow, of Albert Herbig and Resident of City Since 1887. Mrs. Bertha Louise Herbig, widow of the late Albert Herbig and a well known resident of the community, was called by death Saturday noon. Mrs. Herbig passed away at her home, 901 South Chippewa avenue. She had resided in Freeport since I887 and during her residence, here had made many friends all of whom are grieved to learrn of her taking off. She was a faithful and loving mother and wife. She was beloved by all who knew her and the family has the sympathy of a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. Bertha Louise Smith was born in Straussburg, Germany; on December 7th, 1876. She came to America when but eleven years of age coming directly to Freeport and having made her home her since that time. She was united in marriage on May 7th, 1895, to Albert Herbig. The latter passed away twelve years ago. She is survived by her aged mother, Mrs. Ricka Smith, of Freeport, and the following children: Lloyd, Hazel and Esther Herbig, all of Freeport. funeral services will be held from , her late home at __ o'clock tomorrow noon. Rev. W. F. Rex, pastor the First English Lutheran church, will conduct the services and burial will be made in the city cemetery. Tho following will act as pall bearers: Herman, Roy and Harry ___; Henry, Oscar and George Herbig.
