Mary Emelia Mondin Brawner passed away July 14, 2007 at the age of 97. She was born July 18, 1909 to Jack and Agnes Mondin in Seguin, Texas.

Mary Brawner was born Mary Emelia Mondin on July 18, 1909 in Guadalupe County. She graduated from Seguin High School and married Sam P. Brawner on January 28, 1928.

Mary was a member of St. James Catholic Church and a member of the St. Ann’s Society. Mary was a homemaker and enjoyed staying at home and taking care of her family. She was a great cook and all her children and grandchildren enjoyed eating Sunday dinner at her home.

Mary loved canning, which she learned from her mother. She put up her own jellies; various vegetables and she had a fantastic recipe for homemade ketchup. Some of her children and grandchildren still to this day, make their own ketchup each year using this recipe.

She is survived by sons, Eugene H. and wife Anne of Seguin, Texas, Edward F. and wife Delores of Seguin, Texas, Lester L. and wife Mary Frances of Seguin, Texas, Sam Bruce Brawner of Seguin, Texas, sister-in-law Marcella, (Mrs. Pete) Mondin of Seguin, Texas and 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Agnes Mondin; husband Sam P. Brawner; brothers, Peter C.; Frank; John L; Peter — infant; James Y.; Sisters, Elizabeth Molter, Cecilia Mondin; Agnes Anderson; Isabella Mondin; Margaret Hellinghausen; grandson, Sam Reidel Brawner.

Service: A rosary will be recited at St. James Catholic Church at 9:30 Wednesday July 18, 2007 with Father Louis Marx Officiating. The Funeral mass will be held immediately following the rosary at St. James Catholic Church with Father L Marx officiating. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery Mausoleum under the direction of Goetz Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Tom Brawner, Clay Brawner, Brian Brawner, Jeff Brawner, Mike Brawner, Jordan Brawner, Patrick Brawner. Ushers are Ed Schramm and Fred Molter.
