Funeral services will be held Monday, January 26, 2015 at a 10:00 a.m. Liturgy of the Word in Melancon Funeral Home in Opelousas for Marius J. "Tommy" Oge, Jr., age 88, who passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 at Opelousas General Health System in Opelousas.

Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. The Rev. James Brady and MSGR Louis Melancon, of St. Landry Church, will officiate at the services.

Marius "Tommy" Oge, Jr. born in Plaisance, Louisiana on August 7, 1926 died peacefully surrounded by his family on January 23, 2015. A successful Opelousas business man, Mr. Oge was co-owner of Daigle Welding Supply, Inc. and before moving to Opelousas, he lived in Washington, where he served on the Town Council. He was a veteran of the military having served in the United States Army during World War, II. Mr. Oge enjoyed spending time with his family, telling stories and jokes, playing golf and cheering for the LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints.

He was a devoted husband to Geraldine "Jerry" Carriere Oge for sixty three years; the loving father of three children, David Oge and his wife, Lee, Jan St. Cyr and her husband, Kenneth, and Mary Bainter and her husband, Steven; six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marius Joseph Oge, Sr. and the former Eva Dupre.

A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Monday.
