Chester Twp. –
MRS. MARY A. THOMAS, widow; P. O. Sparta; was born in South Wales, Dec. 6, 1813, and came to this country with the rest of her father’s family. Her father, David Davis, was born in England, and came to Baltimore July 3, 1820, with a family of two children; her mother, whose maiden name was Pugh, was born in Radnorshire, Wales. They moved to Pittsburg, and there, Sept. 17, 1828, the father died, leaving five children -- Mary A., David P., Isabella, Thomas, and Anna. The mother was again married in Ohio, to Henry, a son of Henry George, Sr., by whom she had one child, Enoch P., who died June 4, 1866.

Birth year taken from his age at time of arrival in the US. If this were my relative, I'd question the birth in England (as noted above) and look to Wales. Just a guess, though.

The only people faintly similar to this history arrived in New York, NY, on 11 Jul 1820, having sailed from Liverpool on the "Ship Mary". The DAVIS party consisted of David (50y), Margaret (59y), Mary (16), David (12) and another Mary (10). Names are correct, ages are not.
