She was born in Georgetown, District of Columbia, the daughter of George Anderson King. During World War I, she was a volunteer in the ambulance service. In 1921 she married Colonel Lawrence M. Jones, a football coach at the United States Military Academy, Louisiana State University, University of Oklahoma and University of Nebraska. She was an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Chevy Chase, Maryland. At age 80 years, she died of cancer at Sibley Memorial Hospital on Saturday, August, 12, 1978. Survivors included her husband; one son, Major General Lawrence M. Jones Jr. of Kaiserslautern, West Germany; one daughter, Barbara Jones Grady of Chevy Chase, Maryland; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Marion King Hinckley of Washington, D.C. and one brother, George A. King of Washington, Georgia. Services were at All Saints Church at 3 Chevy Chase Circle in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Interment was in the United States Military Academy Cemetery, West Point, New York. The family asked for expressions of sympathy in the form of contributions to the Army Distaff Hall at 6200 Oregon Avenue Northwest or the Perpetual Memorial Fund of All Saints Church.
