Mrs Mary Smith Called by Death Early Hour Today
At her residence, this city, at an early hour this morning, occurred the passing of Mrs Mary Elizabeth Smith, widow of Emanuel Smith. The news of the death of Mrs Smith while a source of much sorrow to her many friends, was not entirely unexpected due to her feeble condition for a long while. The death was hastened, however, by a heart attack which she suffered Wednesday.
Mrs Smith, who was about 75 years of age, weas born and reared in Antioch community, this county, her parents being among the founders of Antioch Church which observed its one hundredth anniversary several years ago, and with which she united in early childhood ever remaining true to its teachings and faithful to her Lord. She was one of the most consecrated Christian women that ever lived.
Funeral services for Mrs Smith will be held at Antioch church tomorrow morning at 11 o'clock, conducted by her pastor, Rev. R C Howard, with interment in the family lot at Antich Cemetery.
Surviving Mrs Smith are her three children, Mrs W A Jarrell, Miss Effie Smith, and Mr Mercer Smith; one brother, Mr John Walker; and three sisters, Mrs A T Jarrell, Mrs Carrie Layfield, and Mrs Annie Jarrell.
