Mrs. Martha Jane{Lykins}Knox, 87, widow of William E. Knox, A CONFEDERATE VETERAN, died Sunday morning about 7:40 o'clock at the home of her son~in~law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Nave, on Montgomery Avenue. She had been an invalid for two years and was ill and confined to her bed about two weeks.
Mrs. Knox born at West Liberty Ky, May~30~1848 a daughter of Eli and Frances{Bradley}Lykins. Following her marriage to William E. Knox in 1866, she moved to Nicholas Co Ky. Mr. and Mrs. Knox moved to Versailles Ky in 1912 and she had lived here most of the time since, Mr. Knox died in 1920.
Mrs. Knox was a devout member of the Christian Church and took an active interst in the CONFEDERATE VETERAN ASSOCIATION and U. D.C. She was a woman of interesting personality, beloved by her family and a large number of friends.
She is survived by her daughter Mrs. Nave, two sons, Dr. E. French Knox of Lexington Ky., and Dr. D. B. Knox if Georgetown and one great~granddaughter, Frances Ann Nave.
The funeral, conducted by the Rev. W. J. Shelbourne, was held at the Nave residence Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The burial took place in the Versailles Cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred J. Rump, Dr. N. E. Berry, Harvey Watts, D. G. Owens, Nat Thompson and Frederick Jackson.
