Wanda "Polly" Schertz passed away Sunday January 18, 2015 at the age of 98.

She was born May 8, 1916 in Clear Springs, Texas to Wilhelm and Dorathea (Stein) Abel.

She married Charles A. McDonald, Jr. June 21, 1941. He preceded her in death September 5, 1944.

She married Eugene Schertz May 20, 1966. He preceded her in death July 3, 2000.

Polly was a member of Bracken United Methodist Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #2999, Herman Sons Lodge #37, and the VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include her son, Kenneth McDonald and wife Janice of San Antonio; daughter, Charlotte Lewis and husband Roger of Paoli, Oklahoma; step daughter, Elizabeth Rose of San Antonio; 8 grandchildren, Denise McDonald, Christine Roan and husband Casey, Lance Lewis and wife Tracy, Deanna Lewis, Steven Rose and wife Sherrie, Diane Rose, Lisa Weiding and husband Robert, and Michael Rose; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and 1 great great great grandchild. She was also preceded in death by 3 sisters and 3 brothers.

Visitation will be at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels on Wednesday from 4 pm until 8 pm. The funeral service will be conducted at the Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home Chapel at 2 pm on Thursday January 22, 2015.

Interment will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.

Memorial donations may be given to Eden Hills Communities.
