Lotus Illene Moore Cone

The Creator God has called Lotus McCandless to his Heavenly Home on January 17, 2015. Lotus was born in Miami, Oklahoma on January 30, 1922 to Perry Allen Moore and Pruddie Pace Moore. She was a wonderful Mother and a friend to all who knew her in her life journey.

Her life was a blessing to all that knew her in the world of business and accounting. Her life work was in bookkeeping for the Terrace Motor Hotel on South Congress, and real estate for Gray and Company and the Coldwell Banker Company. Lotus had her own real estate company, Lotus McCandless Realty, for many years in Austin, Texas. She also worked in construction for the Tips Iron and Steel Engine Works.

As a young woman she worked with a team to open the Austin Cerebral Palsy Center for handicapped children in 1968, which was later bought out by Easter Seals of Texas. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Austin, Texas.

Lotus is survived by her daughter, Carol Ann Cone. She is predeceased by her first husband, Warren Harding Cone, who went to heaven 1989; her second husband, L.L. "Dude" McCandless in 1991; and her sister, Fern Moore Bartran on March 17, 2013.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the Doctors and Staff at Park Bend Healthcare Center and the Odyssey Hospice Care Team of Austin. We are thankful for the Visiting Angels who cared for her before her stay in Park Bend. Many, many thanks to Michael Moran and his expert medical team, nurses and staff. Many thanks to the Cook-Walden Funeral Home and their staff.

Visitation for Lotus will be held from 11:00AM-1:00PM with a Funeral Service at 1:00PM on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd. Austin, Texas 78752. Interment will be at Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Dr., Austin, Texas 78731.
