Beloved 72 Year Old Harrison Woman Passes Away At St. Andrews Hospital After Long Illness

Mrs. Martha Giffin, beloved resident of Harrison, north of this city, died in St. Andrews Hospital at 17 minutes to 7 o'clock Wednesday morning, following an operation.

The deceased was 72 years and 23 days old. She was born in Tennessee, and came to Jackson County when a young girl. James Giffin, the husband, died 23 years ago.

Surviving children are Mrs. Lucy Harding of Du Quoin; Mrs. Grace Snowden of Elkville; Mrs. Daisy Cox of Harrison; and Alfred Giffin of Murphysboro. Other relatives are the half-brothers, Leonard Walters of Elkville; Hiram Walters of Hallidayboro; Abraham Walters of De Soto; and Luther and John Walters of Murphysboro; the sister, Mrs. Mary Roberts of Murphysboro; and three other sisters resident in Texas, born Lucy, Sarah, and Minerva.
