Old Settler of Gosper Dies at the Age of 73
Jonas E. Chambers, aged 73, died on Thursday, July 28, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Fitzsimmons, in Elwood, after an illness of four or five months of Bright's disease. The funeral was held at the Christian church in Elwood on Sunday, July 31, with interment in the Elwood cemetery.
Deceased was a brother of Mrs. R. Hambidge of Arapahoe, Mr.s J. P. Snyder of Gosper county, Mrs. Frank Reynolds of Neligh, and O. H. Chambers of Denver, Colo. Besides these he leaves to mourn seven daughters and three sons. He settled in Gosper County, three miles north of Arapahoe in 1875 and has lived in Gosper county ever since. He had served as county commissioner, county surveyor and held the office of county judge.
O. H. Chambers of Denver, Mrs. Frank Reynolds of Neligh, and Mrs. George Gardner, a daughter, of Oklahoma attended the funeral.
