Virginia B. Arterburn, nee Howard, 81, of Columbia, Ill., formerly of Belleville, Ill., born December 14, 1933 in East St. Louis, Ill., died Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Garden Place, Columbia, Ill.Mrs. Arterburn was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Belleville. She was retired secretary, having worked at Roesch, Inc. in Belleville, however, the three words that best describe Ginny are wife, mom, and grandma. Welcoming Virginia into heaven are her daughter, Linda Buescher; her parents, John and Dena, nee Hubert, Howard; two brothers, John (Delores) Howard and Hubert Howard; a sister, Mary (Carl) Varvel; and a sister-in-law, Vi Howard. Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Robert C. Arterburn, whom she married on April 16, 1955; three sons, Joseph (Loreen) Arterburn of Belleville, Ill., Michael (Berthe) Arterburn of Overland Park, Kan., and Andrew (Ann) Arterburn of Waterloo, Ill.; four daughters, Teresa (Patrick) Wesselmann of Hastings, Minn., Mary Lu (Tom) Arterburn-Haas of Nashville, Ill., Jeannie (Steve) Willibey of Kansas City, Mo., and Carol (Russell) Galusha of Williamsville, Ill.; 20 grandchildren, Kathy (John), Joe (Elizabeth), Jenny (Si), Jon (Lynnsey), Chris, Casey, Brandon, Nick, Jake, David, Linda, Joshua, Alli, Alex, Zack, Molly, Amy, Emma, Harrison and Abbey; 11 great-grandchildren, Jack, Anna, Kenna, Brett, Si, Thomas, Trent, Cobain, Katelynn, Jimmy and Corey; a brother, Bernard Howard of Belleville, Ill.; a sister, Theresa (Don) Fix of Belleville, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Howard of Belleville, Ill.; a son-in-law, Mark (Cheryl) Buescher of Belleville; and many nieces and nephews.A special thanks to our first grandchild, Kathy, for providing her grandparents with constant love and support.A heartfelt thank you to the Heartland Hospice team, especially Jennifer, Bonnie, and Cheryl, to the caring staff of Garden Place in Columbia, Ill., and to Dr. David Walls and his staff of Red Bud, Ill.Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice, or in the form of memorial masses to Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill.
