Edward D. Avery Is Called To Beyond
Prominent Citizen of Cove City Died Yesterday in Local Hospital, Aged 60
Mr. Edward D. Avery of Cove City died in a local hospital yesterday afternoon in the 60th year of his age and the remains were taken to his home on the afternoon train.
Surviving Mr. Avery are his wife, Mrs. Hattie Avery, two daughters, Mrs. Bennie Fortune of Wilmington and Mrs. Ruth Sasser of Goldsboro, one son, Mr. John H. Avery of this city and two brothers, Mr. John E. Avery of Birmingham, Ala., and Mr. F. P. Avery of New Bern.
The funeral and burial exercises will take place near Cove City today. Mr. Avery was one of the leading spirits of his section. He was for many years in the mercantile business at Cove City. He was a leading member of the Methodist Church, and a host of friends will grieve the passing of this good man.
