WOODLAND - Mrs. Virginia Elizabeth Lee Bryan, 88, died Saturday, June 11, 2005 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie.

She was born in Hertford County. She made her home in Northampton County, and lived in Woodland with her husband, George Allen Brayn, until his death in 1959. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother , Lizzie Brickle Lee; her father, Arthur Robert Lee; her son, Preston Bryant; and her sister, Sarah MacAllister.

She is survived by her two daughters, Nora Rawls and her husband, Sherwood, of Aulander and Marie Harris and her husband, Gene, of Woodland; three sons, George Bryant Jr. of Hobgood, Joe Bryant and his wife, Shirley, of Woodland and Jimmy Bryan of Richmond, Va.; one sister, Doris Gilliam and her husband, M.T., of Chesapeake, Va.; one brother, James Lee and his wife, Joyce, of Winton; and 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 14, at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Rich Square, with the Rev. Bob Deacon officiating.

Sykes Funeral Home in Rich Square is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., today, June 13.
