Robert Henry Messersmith, age 77 of Orem, formerly of Cedar Fort, died May 5, 2005 in the Timpanogos hospital following a stroke. He was born Sept. 28, 1927 in Cedar Fort, Utah, son of Ralph Henry and Margaret Elizabeth Berry Messersmith. He married Shirley Ione West, July 10, 1952 in Nevada. Marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died Oct. 29, 1999. He married Merle Boulton Haycock, Sept. 9, 2000 in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple.

Bob served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a supply inspector at Tooele Army Depot and also was a bus driver for Alpine School District. He was a temple worker in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple and served an LDS mission with his wife, Shirley in South Carolina. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener, farmer, and loved to read.

Survived by his wife, Merle of Orem; sons: Paul (Jackie) Messersmith, Nephi; Terry (Tammy) Messersmith, Fairfield; Ralph (Kathy) Messersmith, Lehi; Kimball (Jetta) Messersmith, Cedar Fort; Alan (Kathy) Haycock, Santaquin; daughters: Charlene (Bill) Haworth, Washington; Cindy (Rex) Dumas, and Gloria (Jeff) Beagley, all of Lehi; Marsha (Steve) Cross, Taylorsville; Debbie (John) Fowles, Providence; Shawna (Kim) James, Washington; Pam (Darren) Miller, Murray; Diana (Dave) Binks, Provo; 23 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dean Smith, Vernal Messersmith, sister, Margaret Danielson. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, son, Kevin, and step-daughter, Sheila Haycock.

Robert married Shirley I. West on July 10, 1952. Their marriage was sealed in the LDS Church on April 11, 1962. Their children are: Paul, Charlene, R. Kevin, Ralph, Cindy, Terry, Gloria, and Kimball.
