NOTE: Grandmother of Zelma (Prater) Simmons Dove. She was grandmother of my mother's 2 cousins, Margie and Marie Simmons. Margie was close to Mom, Mom took her in for a while when I was very young. Martha Jane Lewis Simmons was born about 1834-1836 in Tennessee to Archie Lewis and Prudie Lassiter. Martha married James Simmons. Information found, they had 14 children.

A Posting on Family Search: Tennessee, Marriages, 1796-1950 list James Semmens and Martha E Lewis marriage 7 Dec 1854, Cannon County, Tennessee. I know the Semmons could have been spelled incorrect but since there is not a view of record posted, possibly the middle letter "E" for Martha may have been entered incorrect or translated incorrect for a "J" for Jane.

According to 1900 Census, Martha was mother of 14 with 10 living at time of that census.
