"Leo F. Husting Dies at Age of 81
Leo F. Husting, 81, of 2721 Oakridge ave., whose grandfather helped found Milwaukee in 1818, died Wednesday in a Madison hospital after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. Friday in the Ryan funeral home.
A priest from St. Bernard's Catholic church will officiate and burial will be in Resurrection cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p. m. today.
Mr. Husting was a son of John P. and Mary Juneau Husting. His mother was the daughter of Solomon Juneau, one of three men generally credited as being the founders of Wisconsin's largest city, Milwaukee.
Mr. Husting was born in Fond du Lac and had been a Madison resident since 1927. He had been employed by the state Public Service Commission (PSC) until his retirement four years ago.
Before coming to Madison he was chief deputy collector of internal revenue at Oshkosh. A brother, Paul O. Husting was a former U. S. senator from Wisconsin. Another brother, Berthold was a U. S. district attorney in Milwaukee. Both preceded him in death.
Mrs. Husting, who died in 1943, also was a member of one of the state's oldest families.
Mr. Husting is survived by two daughters, Madeline and Mary, both of 2721 Oakridge ave.; three sons. Nathaniel B., Evanston, Ill.; Charles O., Highland Park, Ill., and Francis E., Wisconsin Rapids; a brother, Atty. Gustav Husting, 2003 Adams st., and six grandchildren."
