"Derinda May Dodson, 100, Mound City, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Community Hospital, Fairfax, Mo.

Mrs. Dodson was born May 1, 1898, in Holt county, to Joseph and Marthena Brown Catron. She attended the Walker and Fortescue schools and was a lifelong resident of Holt county.

In 1919 she married Howard Dodson. He died in 1959.

She and her husband operated the Fairway Theater and roller rink in Fortescue during the 1920's. She was a homemaker and helped on the family farm.

She was chairwoman of the Democratic Committee in Minton Township for several years; area collector for the American Red Cross through the 1940's; a director of food drives in the 1930's. She was active in many clubs and organizations, including 4-H.

She also was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph "Bud" Catron.

Survivors include a sister, Ermil Henderliter of Raytown; a son, Dennis Dodson Sr. of Fortescue, three grandchildren; and a step-granddaughter.

Funeral services are today, Thursday, Oct. 22, at 2 p.m. at the Pettijohn & Crawford Funeral Home, Mound City.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City, Mo.
