Martha Almira (Sutherlin) Henrie d/o William and Mary Melissa (Young) Sutherlin was born January 4, 1843 in Clay County, Illinois. She married George Washington Henrie on February 1, 1869. The marriage is recorded in Palo Pinto County, TX although the ceremony most likely took place at Fort Griffin in Shackelford County, TX. She died January 24, 1877 of what was suspected to be typhoid fever. Fairview Cemetery, where George Henrie purchased ten plots, is located on land once owned by Martha’s uncle, Merritt Thornton Young.

Nearby is a memorial marker for her husband, George W. Henrie. He along with his wife Mary Agnes (Smith) Henrie and their son Damon Pythias are buried in an unmarked grave in the Alvin City Cemetery (now known as Oak Park Cemetery) in Alvin, Brazoria County, TX.
