ATHENS-Services for Jim Alexander, 76, are scheduled for 6 p.m., Friday, June 24, 2011 at Faith Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Shackelford officiating. Jim died Thursday, June 23, 2011 in Tyler. He was born Aug. 26, 1934 in Dale to Bert Dalton and Charlotte Ruth Meager Alexander. Jim had been a resident of Athens since 1969. He delivered the portable CT Scan, and worked for Dr. Smitson for 26 years. He married Sue Doss on Dec. 28, 1966. Jim was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting. Survivors are wife Sue Alexander, Athens; daughter Susan Boose and husband Tom, Athens; sons Mark Owen and wife Ronda, Waco, Stanley Alexander and wife Christy, Royce City, Danny Owen and wife Renee, Fort Meyers, Fla.; grandchildren Lance Hardy, Brandon Hardy, Chuck Hardy, Justin Owen, Markie Owen, Lauren Cannady, Chris Boose, Tommy Boose and Hunter Boose. Honorary pallbearers will be the medical staff of Mother Frances Hospital and Hospice of East Texas Homeplace that attended Jim during his illness.
