Oliver O. Coppi, 93, of Deltona, Fla., formerly of Monongahela, died Saturday, June 25, 2011. Born May 30, 1918, in Hazelkirk, he was the son of the late Adam and Pearl (Guidotti) Coppi. Ollie retired as a carpenter from the Frank Irey Construction Co. He served in the U.S. Army 3rd Armor Division during World War II. He was a member of Transfiguration Catholic Church in Monongahela, the Carroll Township American Legion 949 and the Veterans of Foreign War Post 1409 in Monongahela. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Mark A. and Melony Coppi, of Deltona; a daughter and husband, Sharon M. DeSantis and Michael Karwowski, of Canonsburg; a brother, Amos Coppi, of Carroll Township; two grandsons, Jason and wife, Ashley Coppi, and Mark Coppi; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Kyndal Coppi. Preceding him in death was his wife, Isabel V. (Kossol) Coppi, who died Nov. 2, 2010; a brother, Frank Coppi; and a sister, Norma Beemer. Friends will be received at the MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, (724) 258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, where a blessing service will be held Thursday, June 30, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. George Chortos, officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township, with military honors conducted by the Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad.
