In loving memory of a wonderful father and friend to everyone he touched. James R. Slay, Sr. (Pops), a native of Shreveport, Louisiana, and a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away at his home on January 13, 2015. He was born on September 8, 1921 in Shreveport, Louisiana, to his parents Arthur Clyde Slay and Juette Jones Slay. He graduated from Louisiana State University in 1948 and was a member of Kapa Alpha fraternity. He served in the United States Air Force as an Air Operations Specialist and was a World War II Veteran.

Mr. Slay is survived by his sister; daughter; his son; his son and daughter-in-law; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren, four step-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife Theresa Fedyk Slay; parents Arthur Clyde Slay and Juette Jones Slay.

Visitation will be held Friday January 16, 2015 from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway Baton Rouge, LA, with funeral service at 1:00 P.M. A graveside service and burial is to follow at Louisiana National Cemetery in Zachary, LA, at 2:30 P.M.
